WINDHOEK, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Mineral production in Namibia increased significantly in 2018, according to information released on Tuesday by the country's Chamber of Mines.
Statistics show that diamond production increased by 11 percent from 1.8 million carats in 2017 to over 2 million carats in 2018.
Rossing uranium mine increased its uranium production by 17 percent from 2,110 tonnes of yellow cake in 2017 to 2,478 tonnes in 2018. Production of uranium at Swakop Uranium's Husab mine increased from 1,345 tonnes in 2017 to 3,571 tonnes in 2018.
Zinc production at the Rosh Pinah Zinc mine rose from 97,374 tonnes in 2017 to 107,668 tonnes in 2018. Lead concentrate production at the same mine increased from 13,915 tonnes in 2017 to 14,068 tonnes in 2018.
The production of graphite at the Okanjande mine reached 3,456 tonnes of graphite flakes, seeing a 56-percent growth from 2,216 tonnes in 2017.
