BEIRUT, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- British Ambassador to Lebanon Chris Rampling said Wednesday that the United Kingdom has contributed 200 million U.S. dollars to support economic development in Lebanon, the National News Agency reported.
"Bilateral ties between Lebanon and the United Kingdom today are stronger than ever before and the kingdom is looking forward to increasing its support for Lebanon's economic development," Rampling was quoted as saying during his meeting with Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil.
Rampling also called upon the new government to remain neutral in the midst of the conflicts taking place in the region while committing to UN Security Council resolutions 1701 and 1559.
"We will always support Lebanon's stability and sovereignty through diplomatic channels," Rampling said.
Rampling added that he is looking forward to seeing serious reforms that would have great economic impact in the country.
