MINSK, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Martin Sajdik, special representative of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), said on Wednesday that there was not a single civilian death in the conflict zone in east Ukraine since the beginning of the summer truce.
The truce approved by the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) in connection with the start of the harvesting campaign continues to yield some good results, Sajdik said following the TCG meeting in Minsk.
According to the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission, no deaths have been recorded among the civilian population since July 1, the diplomat said.
The total number of civilian casualties this year has more than halved compared to the same period in 2017, he added.
He expressed hope that these trends will continue, and urged the parties to make every effort to continue strict adherence to the ceasefire regime.
The next meeting of the TCG will be held in Minsk on August 22.
The TCG is a group of representatives from Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE that was formed to facilitate a diplomatic solution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
