BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, July 24 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese embassy in Brunei hosted a reception here on Monday evening to celebrate the 91st anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China, which falls on Aug. 1.
About 300 guests including Brunei's Second Minister of Defense, Major General (Retired) Haji Awang Halbi, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Major General Dato Aminan, other high-level military officers and foreign delegates in Brunei attended the reception.
During the past 91 years, the Chinese PeopIe's Liberation Army has made great achievements in capacity building, safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as maintaining world peace and stability.
"As a contributor to world peace, the Chinese People's Liberation Army facilitates global development and supports international order," Wu Geng, Defense Attaché of the Chinese embassy in Brunei said in his speech on the reception.
"It is ready to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with foreign armed forces and jointly made greater contributions to world peace and common development," he added.
As for bilateral military relations between China and Brunei, Wu Geng said that the two armies enjoy friendly and strong ties underpinned by mutual trust and respect.
"I am confident that the longstanding friendship between our two armed forces will continue to be strengthened," he said.
