KUNMING, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Qvjing city in southwestern China's Yunnan Province announced on Thursday that it will hold the 2018 IRONMAN70.3 triathlon on August 5.
The event is a half-triathlon, which is made up of a 1.9-kilometer swim, a 90-kilometer cycle and a 21.1-kilometer run.
Qvjing is located at an altitude of 1,900m above sea level, making the competition one of the most difficult triathlon events in Asia.
As part of the 2018 IRONMAN China Tour, 25 competitors in the event can qualify for the 2018 IRONMAN World Championship. In addition, 50 competitors can get tickets to the 2019 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship.
