WUHAN, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Wuhan is constructing a 18 kilometer long light installation expected to be unveiled during the 2019 Military World Games, the Wuhan Tourism Department announced on Thursday.
The light installation involves more than 500 buildings along the Yangtze River and seven across the Yangtze River bridge.
The 7th world military games will be held here in October 2019 and will feature nearly 10,000 athletes from more than 100 countries and regions who will compete in 329 events across 27 sports.
Wu Zhanlai, deputy general manager of the Wuhan Tourism Development Investment Group said that there will be about 200,000 points of light out on the coastline. The light installation will be on the buildings, the bridges and cruise ships.
It is their hope that the landscape will embody Chinese water culture, Chu culture (Wuhan is ruled by Chu dynasty in ancient China) and the culture of Wuhan. In order to match the theme of the light show, seven bridges across the Yangtze River have adjusted their color in daily maintenance to achieve a "natural link".
The early collection of the light show animation display programs has 12 entries. The second collection will be installed later.
