KAMPALA, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Six Indian players have advanced to the last 16 at the ongoing 2018 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Uganda Pro Circuit Futures 2 (F2) on Wednesday.
Anand Kunal from India was in good form to defeat Latvia's Arturs Lazdins 6-1, 6-2 at the Lugogo Tennis Club, in Kampala.
Kunal advanced to the last 16 where he will face an uphill task against the top seed Ivan Nedeko of Russia, 264th ranked in the world.
Nedelko who won the ITF Uganda Pro Circuit Futures 1 last weekend dispatched Japan's Shunsuke Wakita 6-3, 6-4.
Vinayak Sharma Kaza dismissed his fellow countryman Dhruv Sunish of India 6-2, 6-3.
"I am determined to reach the finals this time after I stopped at the semifinal stage in the Uganda Pro Circuit Futures 1 last week," Kaza said Wednesday.
He will face New Zealand's Ajeet Rai at last 16 match-up on Thursday.
The other players from India who qualified for the stage included Prajwal Dev, Ranjeet Virali Murugesan, Vasisht Cheruku and Jayesh Pungliya.
The tournament's second seed Fabrizio Ornago, ranked 430th, also made it to the last 16 after defeating Uganda's Simon Peter Ayella 6-4, 6-0.
England's 17-year-old George Loffhagen, who lost in the final of the ITF Uganda Pro Circuit Futures 1, saw off America's Tyler Lu 6-1, 6-2.
On Thursday, the men's doubles will enter the quarterfinal stage with top seeds Tyler Lu and Goran Markovic still in contention.
